Numerical and experimental study of internal solitary wave loads on tension leg platforms

With the large-scale density stratified tank and numerical flume proposed, series of cases in line with experiments are carried out to investigate interaction between tension leg platforms (TLPs) internal solitary waves (ISWs). The waveforms, loads torques on TLP obtained by simulations agree well each other. Experimental results show that amplitudes dimensionless horizontal force torque linearly increase amplitude, while vertical increases a parabolic curve. Besides, indicate forces due ISWs can be divided into three components, namely, wave pressure-difference forces, viscous frictional is negligible. always major constituents. However component unimportant, it negligible as compared forces.
